Franz Ferdinand Live @ Magazzini Generali, Milano - 21/11/08

Voci dicevano che sarebbe stato un concerto come tanti, che i Magazzini non avrebbero ‘tenuto’ il suono e la gente, che il biglietto costasse troppo ecc ecc.

La sera del 21 Novembre, sono arrivate solo smentite.

Three fantastic pieces of plastic are coming.

November has come.

Three incredible and fantastic DVD have also arrived with it.

The first is called “Artic Monkeys @ The Apollo”: a cinematic feast with impressive, intuitive, confidently held master shots - a film that invites the audience to immerse themselves in the style and force of the uk’s most striking band as they deliver one of their most intense performances to date.

Here the teaser (here in HD)

The second is called “A Cross The Universe”, is a CD/DVD documentary about Justice. In the CD we’ll find a choice of the best live song and in the DVD instead, a sort of the best of their live around the world.

Here the teaser

The third is called “Kaiser Chiefs Live At Elland Road”.

The Elland Road show was the band’s biggest headline show so far, with 40,000 fans attending.

The teaser is not available yet, so I post the intro of the DVD.

After a few months of stop (remember Flux, out at the end of 2007), Bloc Party come back with a new single called “Mercury”.

    • Side B - Mercury (Instrumental Version)
  • 7 vinyl”
    • Lato A - Mercury
    • Lato B - Idea for a story
  • a cd
    1. Mercury
    2. Mercury (Hervé is in disarray Remix)
    3. Mercury (CSS Remix)
    4. Mercury (Flosstrodamus Remix

The box is affordable here (with a simple registration).

In addition, there’s the video, very strange, very Flux, very… I say cool and new.

The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age Of The Understatement

Will this gold shine?

The expectations on this ‘group’ are big… maybe too much big.

I don’t say that they’re overestimated, but blog and magazines speak a lot and of this project since month ago.

Now I can’t give ‘em a judgment: I wait the release of the album (21st April) to answer seriously to these questions:

  • is this their kind of music?
  • is it a song like “Brainstorm” that is completly different from the album?
  • will the violins and the rolls of drums persist?
  • the third of the Arctic Monkeys?
  • has Alex changed his style? (not only of attire: D)

Meanwhile let’s taste this video full of Russia (directed by Romain Gavras).
